1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition Commemorative France Medal Vintage

Description

This medal commemorates France at the 1915 Panama-Pacific exposition that was held in San Francisco, California. The exposition was held to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal, also the 400 anniversary of the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and also to celebrate the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake and fire. This medal is bronze, it is two inches in diameter. The obverse in the center shows a young male holding a torch in this left hand & holding up a cloth with his right hand. To his left, under the cloth, there is part of a globe with PANAMA CANAL written on it. To the right of the boy is a building. At the rim it reads PANAMA-PACIFIC - INTERNATIONAL - EXPOSITION - SAN FRANCISCO - CALIFORNIA - FEB - TO - DEC - A.D. - 1915. On the reverse it shows the French pavilion and above the pavilion it reads REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE and below the pavilion it reads SAN FRANCISCO Cal. - AD - MDCCCCXV. Thank you for your interest!
