Description
Large commemorative Gold Coin Souvenir Medallion (so-called dollar?) Panama Pacific International Exhibition 1915. The diameter is just under 3 inches. And it is very thick. I believe it is gold plated (perhaps solid gold or gold over copper). The embossed writing on one side reads “Panama Pacific International Exhibition San Francisco 1915 Horticulture Palace”. The other side reads “Panama Pacific International Exhibition San Francisco 1915 Tower of Jewels”. In excellent condition with little wear. Has been stored for many many decades. A friend of the family born in 1876 moved from PA to CA about 1900 and settled in Redlands. He visited the fair in 1915 and brought home many souvenirs and medals. He gifted them all to my mother about 45 years ago when he was nearly 100. I think this is a very rare item as I have only seen one other in the internet and it was not gold. Please ask questions before purchasing and thank you for looking! If no one starts bidding in this I am going to stop the auction.
