Description
Philippines ethnic clothing probably "Moro" or Bagodo with tag from the San Francisco Pan-Pacific International World's Fair and exposition of 1915. Tag is broken but with enough lettering to clarify. Also, there is a cloth tag with the number 1909 - we don't know if this is a date or an inventory number. Some restoration needs to be done to the black cotton cloth as it is thin and the beadwork is heavy on it. Set of clothing includes man's short trousers and jacket with traditional designs and beadwork. Groups of Philippines minority communities were "displayed" at various world's fairs, The Chicago Columbian 1893, the St. Louis Louis and Clark 1904, San Diego Panama 1905 (?) and the San Francisco 1915, plus side trips to Florida! Set of clothing was bought at auction about 35 years ago. More information on request.
