RIC CHASHOUDIAN LOST WAX BRONZE OF THE SMOOTH FOX TERRIER DOG CH. WARREN REMEDY

Richard M. "Ric" Chashoudian (1931-2012) first competed at a dog show with an Airedale Terrier in 1946 at that age of 15 years. Ric bred champion show dog Airedales and Wire Fox Terriers for over 60 years. He became a professional dog show handler and then began judging AKC dog shows. He also judged dogs in many foreign countries during the course of his judging career. He was widely considered one of the foremost authorities on Terrier breeds. During the course of his career in dogs, he began to model dogs, first with plaster-type models and then moving into resin models, and finally lost wax bronze dog figurines. His work is absolutely outstanding, with fine attention to detail and show dog conformation. I was lucky enough to know Ric and saw him in the dog show ring countless times. I began to collect his early dog figurines due to their exemplary quality and his burgeoning status as a dog artist/sculptor. This offering is a duplicate from my personal collection and has been kept in a closed showcase in my home since I purchased it.
This is Ric's Smooth Fox Terrier, modeled after the renowned female Best in Show winner Ch. Warren Remedy (1905-1912). Warren Remedy was the first Best in Show winner at Westminster Kennel Club in 1907 (WKC did not award BIS until 1907 although their first dog show was earlier). She won BIS again in 1908 and 1909, quite a feat for any dog yet alone a female. One cannot fault this sculpture, it is just superb, and of course depicts the dog as she looked during her show career. A large piece, the bronze alone measures 6" tall by 6 1/2" long. Overall size, including the finished furniture quality wood plinth is 8 1/4" tall by 8 1/4" long by 7" deep. Signed Ric Chashoudian in the bronze base. The piece was produced as an award for the 1987 Ken-L Ration Show Dog of the Year, and bears a brass plaque on the front of the plinth. This will become a cherished piece in your Chashoudian and Smooth Fox Terrier collection, just as it has been in mine.
